THE CONCEPT:
What a terrible start to the new year. Games keep being cancelled, 15 players out, and a loss to the Leafs ( where we barely iced a full squad, and should have been cancelled as well).
This doodle was a bit of a struggle. I wanted to mimic those classic Leyendecker and Rockwell Evening Post New Years Baby covers, but they are masters and I’m a doodler!
The Senators Weaking Post refers to their weakening hold above last place, and inability to roster a healthy squad. The Sens New Year Baby is looking away in disgust as we got unfairly beat by the Leafs, and future games are being cancelled due to COVID. He’s sitting on an updated list of players out on protocol, and the calendar (where Jan 1st has been burnt out by his sparkler) has upcoming games X’d out as they’ve been cancelled.
